Microsoft’s Answer To Apple’s Siri May Be Halo’s ‘Cortana’

by Rachel Baker on September 15, 2013

Microsoft appears to be using all resources available in their Windows phone development, right down to the programmers in gaming.

According to a report for ZDnet, Microsoft is developing its own phone AI to compete with Apple’s famed (or infamous) Siri. It’s name? Cortana.

The reference is of course to Halo, where artificial intelligence Cortana is hero Master Chief’s eternal sidekick, ally and weirdly, almost a love interest. Many a mission has been spent trudging through the bowels of some Covenant base or Flood hive in order to retrieve her, and she’s been Master Chief’s only real friend in a game mostly about being a one man army.
