While this article focuses mostly on donating to political campaigns, you will be able to also donate to causes. I find the ability to donate to a cause way more of a plus than the ability to donate to a candidate.

Hopefully, the candidates will refrain from using this new tool as a way to manufacture fake, crippling peer pressure that screws up our political process for years to come.

The company announced Tuesday that its users will now be able to donate directly through a tweet in conjunction with its partner, Square.

The technology is already being employed by the campaigns of Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) and Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker (R), who are running for the Democratic and Republican presidential nominations, respectively. It also comes on the eve of the second GOP presidential debate in Simi Valley, California, offering candidates a prime digital fundraising opportunity.
